Animal Intake

The Central Missouri Humane Society intakes surrendered or stray pets Monday-Saturday 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (We are closed on Sundays). While it is important to know that we never turn down a pet in need, it is heartbreaking to see pets surrendered to the shelter when their only “crime” is barking from boredom or wandering out of the owner’s unfenced yard.

Many pet owners don’t realize that such problems can be easily and inexpensively managed. Please consider keeping your animal and working through behavioral problems instead. If you would like to discuss available options with a staff member, please call the CMHS at 573.443.7387. We do not charge an intake fee, but a donation is encouraged.
