Volunteer
It is our job at CMHS to provide our communities stray and unwanted animals comfort and socialization for the duration of their time at our facility. We know the importance of a belly rub or trail walk, the benefits of recovering from illness in a quiet home and the self-esteem that is instilled in an animal when he remembers what it is liked to be loved. We rely on our shelter volunteers to provide all the love and attention that they can to our furry friends.

CMHS Volunteer Program
The volunteer opportunities at CMHS are endless. From dog walking to office work, we welcome all members of the community who support our mission. Our volunteers save our animals lives by keeping them socialized, exercised and loved. Don’t put it off any longer! Please note that volunteers must be 18+, or under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian at all times. Orientation is required prior to volunteering with CMHS. Contact Leslie at volunteer@cmhspets.org for more information.

Group Volunteering
We get several requests from groups wanting to volunteer. If you have a group that is interested in volunteering there are a few things to keep in mind:
- Large groups can intimidate our animals, so our volunteer groups help us with several useful tasks, but don’t necessarily get to work directly with our dogs and cats. (you also must be 18 years old to work with our animals.)
- You will get messy! Please make sure that when you volunteer you wear old clothes, closed toe shoes, and bring warm clothing for outside work.
- Large groups take planning. We need to know at least 2 weeks in advance if you are interested in working with us.
- We have limited indoor space. We ask that group numbers are limited to 6-8 people. If you have a larger group, we will do our best to accommodate.
- If you have any questions, or would like your group to volunteer, please contact Leslie at volunteer@cmhspets.org
There are so many things you can do to support our shelter other than in-shelter volunteering!
Check out our wish list here and coordinate a donation drive with your club, organization or social group. Host a bake-sale, car wash or dog wash and donate the proceeds. Just be sure to fill out an event request form! Our critters will be so very thankful.
Raise awareness in your classroom, club or organization by inviting our Shelter Relations Assistant to speak about our shelter, the importance of spaying and neutering and responsible pet ownership!
